Kay Bojesen was a Danish designer best known for his wooden toys and figurines. He was born in 1886 and grew up in Copenhagen, where he trained as a silversmith at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. His designs were influenced by the functionalist style, which emphasized simplicity and practicality.
Bojesen's most famous designs were his wooden animals, such as the Monkey, the Elephant, and the Bear. These toys were created in the 1950s and remain popular to this day. Bojesen also designed other wooden toys, as well as cutlery, flatware, and other household items.
Bojesen received numerous awards and honors during his lifetime, including the Diploma of Honour at the Milan Triennale in 1954. He remained active in his work until his death in 1958. Today, his pieces are highly sought after by collectors and are sold in museums and design stores around the world.
